"In the brave new world of web design and implementation, Firmseek is a rare find: a web firm we can trust and rely on."

Nancy Udell, General Counsel

Client Profile
Founded by Philip Howard, co-chairman of the international law firm, Covington & Burling, Common Good has taken on the challenge of restoring common sense to the American judicial system. The organization has been profiled on shows such as Dateline NBC and has received front-page press in publications such as Time and Newsweek.

The Challenge
Common Good called upon Firmseek to spearhead a design and technology project that would demonstrate the burden of law on American schools. In addition, Common Good tasked Firmseek with building a new back end for its web site.

Firmseek's Solution

  • Developed interactive Flash presentation that illustrates the crushing weight of law upon school teachers and school administration. The piece is fun to watch, yet content rich.

  • Integrated the Flash piece with database functionality to enable Common Good staff to update the piece with new documents and content at any time.

  • Designed the look and feel for a series of charts that demonstrate the steps school officials need to take when doing something as simple as replacing a heating system.

  • Rebuilt the back end of the main web site so that staff could update 100% of content, format pages with different structures and integrate images throughout the site.

  • The site accomplished the organization's goal. The Burden of Law site received accolades throughout the educational, legal and political community. The National School Boards Association, among others, "commend[ed] Common Good for calling attention to the burden of excessive law and regulation on our public schools."
