The Contractors' Association of Greater New York, Inc. ("CAGNY") is the largest association of the leading general contractors operating in the Metropolitan New York area. Nothing they do is on a small scale. Whether it's building the largest buildings in New York City, helping with the World Trade Center disaster relief and clean-up efforts, or creating a web presence on the Internet, CAGNY thinks big.

The Challenge
Build a web site that could house over 10,000 pages of collective bargaining agreements, legal forms, industry news, training documents, industry negotiation minutes, and legislative updates that regularly need to be updated by CAGNY staff members who have no technical training. Build a multi-layered site that could provide different levels of document access based on an individual's member company and his or her position within the company. While CAGNY members are unanimous in their joint commitment to the highest ethical standards in their dealings with clients, governmental agencies and trade unions, they are fierce competitors. Keeping confidential documents confidential while sharing joint documents was a high priority.

Firmseek's Solution

• Designed and built a web site for CAGNY - the first one ever for the organization.

• Built a customized database system to organize and house CAGNY's multitude of documents while providing an easy-to-use, web-based interface for quick and easy document uploading and site maintenance.

• Developed a 'smart' password-protection system that allows CAGNY's executive administrator to decide exactly which users can access which specific documents. The front-end design is easy to navigate, but more importantly, the back-end controls allow a 'non-techie' to manage passwords, upload documents and delete information with a few simple key strokes.
